Nearly one million of Georgia's children are overweight or obese. Physicians are treating more and more children with diseases once seen only in adults such as hypertension and type II diabetes.

This in-depth discussion will cover a range of topics from diagnosis to treatment. Speakers include Stephanie Walsh, M.D., Gary Montgomery, M.D. and Nicola Chin, M.D.


Stephanie Walsh, MD, Medical Director, Child Wellness Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
Stephanie Walsh, MD is an assistant professor of pediatrics and surgery at Emory University. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Obesity Medicine. She leads the clinical efforts of the Strong4Life program and is medical director of the Health4Life clinic.

Gary Montgomery, MD
Gary Montgomery, M.D. is the director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Children´┐Żs Healthcare of Atlanta. He is board certified in the specialties of Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Sleep Disorders Medicine and an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Montgomery has extensive experience in evaluating and treating the wide range of sleep disorders that can occur in children and adolescents.

Nicola C. Chin, MD
Dr. Chin is a senior partner in her private practice, Kid's First Pediatric Group, LLC, in Stockbridge GA. She has practiced for the last sixteen years in the Atlanta community. She has a special interest in preventing and counseling on childhood obesity and wellness. Dr. Chin served on the board of the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics 2007-2013, and is past Vice President of their Obesity Task Force and current Chair of the Bright Futures Task Force on Wellness.


At the conclusion of the activity the learner will be able to:


Pediatricians, family practitioners, and other primary care physicians involved in the care of childhood obesity and sleep wellness.

To receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit, you must receive a minimum score of 80% on the post-test.

Follow these steps to earn CME/CE credit*

At the end of the live event, registered participants will be able to take the post-event evaluation and test in order to receive a certificate. The certificate will be sent via email.
